What time is it?

Did you know walking just 10km a week (1km each way, to and from work), instead of driving, saves about $900 in transport costs and 300 kilograms of greenhouse pollution each year? Walk to work today ladies and gentlemen because its Walk To Work Day.
It’s the school holidays. If you didn’t know that, you must be living under a rock. Anyway, I was watching Sunrise one day and there was a caller (a year 10 student) who complained because she got homework to do over the holidays. Now if this was in Singapore, it would be a completely different story. Teachers and parents there support the idea of giving homework (and I mean tons of it) to the child to complete over the holidays… even though we all hate it.
Here in Australia, everyone (I mean everyone) don’t really agree with that, because holidays are meant to be time well spent relaxing… not doing algebra. The only people giving homework are those really strict teachers but even if they did, it wouldn’t be as much as what we would normally receive in Singapore. There are exceptions for year 11 and 12 students, but what is your take on this? Should the holidays be time spent playing all day or studying?
Well, after spending my whole life in an asian country, I’d say the more homework the better. I was actually pretty surprised when I first heard of people complaining about the work load. So I’d say MORE HOMEWORK!
More homework for the Asian Geeks! *Gasps*
Thanks Taufiq! (: haha! I didn’t knew that by walking would save SO much yeah? Like really so so so so much?!?! take care and smile more and always! (:
